Capryloyl salicylic acid (LHA — lipo-hydroxy acid) is a lipophilic derivative of salicylic acid developed by L'Oréal. The addition of the capryloyl chain makes it more oil-soluble and increases its ability to penetrate the skin's lipid matrix. It exfoliates more selectively at the surface and within pores with less irritation than pure salicylic acid.
