Arbutin is a naturally derived glycoside found in bearberry, cranberry, and pear leaves. It inhibits tyrosinase activity to reduce melanin production, making it effective for brightening and fading hyperpigmentation. Alpha-arbutin is the more stable and potent form commonly used in modern formulations.
