Alpha arbutin is a biosynthetic active derived from the bearberry plant that inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production. It is a more stable and effective form than beta-arbutin and provides brightening without the irritation of hydroquinone. It is well tolerated by all skin types.
